Dried Meats: Jerkies are another great food to keep on hand with an upcoming storm. Unless of course you’re vegetarian or vegan. However if you’re still a meat eater you can enjoy different types of jerky available on the market from turkey, buffalo to salmon and trout. Once again you can make your own. However, not the night before a storm. It takes time to get process. And do not buy the kind at your local 7-11, that is full of cancer causing nitrates and other additives. Opt for more natural offerings from your local organic and whole food grocer.
Cereal: Keep it simple. What about milk. Well we suggest you use water or some type of alternative milk product such as hemp or rice which can be stored outside a fridge until used.
Protein Bars: here we definitely suggest you make your own, and here’s a link. Most store bought nutrient bars are packed with unnecessary sugar. Make your own and keep the sugar content at where you would like it.
Lemons, Tomatoes, Stone Fruit, Potatoes, and Onions: None of these items requires refrigeration. So you can pick some up and know you can keep many on hand for several days. They all carry great nutritional value and give you another source of food that doesn’t require refrigeration.
Coconut Oil: Coconut oil has been all the rave now for the last 5 years. And rightfully so, recent research suggest many of its hailed benefits are actually true. Coconut oil as MCA, medium chain amino acids which are a super food for your body and brain. You can also cook with it and use it as a moisturizer.
